2G fallout in DMK: Alagiri threatens to quit

New Delhi: Upset over inaction against A Raja, DMK chief MK Karunanidhi's son MK Alagiri has threatened to quit as Union Minister and as DMK office bearer.According to reports, Alagiri is upset over several issues including the party's failure to distance 2G scam tainted A Raja from party affairs.Alagiri is believed to have snubbed his father - DMK chief MK Karunanidhi - on Tuesday by skipping a party meeting and leaving for his stronghold of Madurai.
The meeting was called to discuss the DMK's poll strategy. Tamil Nadu is heading for assembly elections later this year.
Alagiri is reportedly angling for a bigger role in party affairs. He is also said to be bitter over his father's decision to donate their Gopalpuram residence where he grew up for building a hospital.
